Frequently asked questions about holiday lettings

The questions guests ask us most often. Everything that varies from one accommodation to another — price, security deposit, arrival days — is listed on its own page.

How do I book accommodation?

You select your dates and the number of guests, see the total price straight away, and proceed to book from there. The tenancy agreement is between you and the landlord; we act as an intermediary and handle the payment. The name of the landlord is listed on each property page.

Is the price shown the final price?

The price shown is the full amount you pay when booking: for your dates and your party, including the final cleaning and every charge the host makes compulsory. Two amounts follow on arrival and are therefore not in it — the deposit, which you leave and get back, and the tourist tax. You pay both to the host.

Do I pay a tourist tax on site, and how much?

The Balearic Islands levy an overnight tax, the Impuesto sobre Estancias Turísticas — commonly called the tourist tax or ecotasa. It applies per person per night and depends on the type of accommodation; for holiday homes and apartments it is in the region of €2.20 per person per night. Guests under 16 do not pay it. That is an age limit, not a child limit: someone who turns 16 pays, even travelling with their parents. It is why we ask for adults, children and babies separately — so you can see who it applies to. You pay it on site to the landlord, not when booking. It is therefore not part of the total price you see here. In the low season, from 1 November to 30 April, only 25 % of the rate is due, and from the ninth night of the same stay half of that again.

Why is a deposit required?

The security deposit covers any damage that may occur during your stay. It is not included in the rental price: you pay it to the landlord on arrival and it will be returned to you after you leave, provided there are no issues. Details of whether a security deposit is required and, if so, the amount, can be found on the property page.

What does the registration number listed for each accommodation mean?

Anyone letting accommodation to holidaymakers in Mallorca needs a Balearic Islands letting licence — the ETV number. We only list properties that have one, and display the number on every property page and on every map in the search results. A property without this number may not be let to holidaymakers.

How do I cancel?

Every accommodation listing has a three-stage cancellation policy: a period during which cancellation is free of charge, a middle period during which a portion of the rental price is payable, and a later period during which the full amount is payable. The deadlines that apply to your accommodation are listed on its page in the cancellation table — in days, not technical terms.

When can I arrive and depart?

The times are listed on the property page; it is usual to arrive in the afternoon and depart in the morning. Some properties only accept guests on certain days of the week, and many have a minimum stay requirement. Days that are already booked are blocked on the calendar; when calculating the price, we’ll check whether your chosen dates comply with the arrival day and minimum stay requirements, and let you know straight away, along with the reason.

When will I find out the exact address?

The map shows the approximate location within a certain radius, not the house itself. You will receive the exact address and directions once payment has been completed. This protects the privacy of the neighbourhood and is standard practice on reputable websites.

Can I bring pets with me?

This is decided by the letting agent on a property-by-property basis. If pets are allowed, this will be stated in the property details; if nothing is mentioned, please enquire before booking. A dog brought along without prior notice is grounds for the letting agent to refuse accommodation.

Is the final clean included?

Where a final clean is required, this is included in the total price and shown in the price overview. An interim clean or a change of linen during your stay is not automatically included — please speak to the landlord if you would like this.

Are bed linen and towels included?

That is the host's decision, which is why the answer is on the property page rather than here. Under "Good to know" you can see what comes with the place; where a host charges for linen, towels or a change during the stay, it appears as its own line in the price breakdown. If nothing is said there, ask us before booking — we will check with the host.

Who should I contact when I’m there?

Contact the owner of your accommodation. Their details can be found in the booking confirmation and on the property page under ‘Legal information’. If you have any questions about the booking itself or about payment, please get in touch with us.
